Check Laptop Charger by Yourself

Laptop is one of the most videly used electronical items, which depends on a rechargeable laptop battery to keep it on and preforming. When your laptop fails to stay charged or charge at all, it is time for you to troubleshoot the issue by yourself before paying for another professional charger.

You can test your ASUS laptop charger as the following steps:

1,Be sure that the charger is plugged well into a working outlet and getting power and also the connector at the power cord, since many non-charging problem come with the loose connection, that is the quite important step before you have another test.

2,Try to run the laptop from the laptop charger only. Power off the laptop, after several seconds take off the battery , and then plug the charger in, then press the on button to check if the laptop could be on. If it will not run on with the charger alone then the charger is faulty or no longer any good to power the ASUS laptop battery. In some cases your laptop will run off with the charger, but that is not the charger problem, since there is a possibility that the power of the charger is low and can not support the laptop to perform, in this case you have a faulty charger. If the laptop turn on with only the charger plug on, that means the ASUS laptop charger is in good condition, and you could really continue to use it.

3,Try charging your laptop with the laptop powered off. Sometimes the charger will charge the laptop when it is powered completely off, but not when it is on. If it only charges the ASUS laptopbattery when the laptop is off, then you have a faulty charger.

4,Check the ASUS laptop battery for corrosion and/or leakage. If there is a sign of either corrosion or leakage you will need to stop attempting to use the battery pack and replace it immediately. And there is another reason of non-working battery, very battery has a lifespan, after a long-time used, it will be consumed much, and sometimes you could not full charge it.

5,If you still can not find out the question, you could have a try with a tool voltmeter.Test your charger with a voltmeter. If it is an AC Adapter of ASUS laptop, set a voltmeter to 25 VAC. Make the contacts and probes touch, and look for a reading. If there is not a reading on the meter, the charger is not any good. For DC chargers, set a voltmeter to 25 VDC and make the contacts and probes touch. The meter should read at least 1V more than the chargers rating. If it does not, the probes need to be switched.
