ASUS laptop charger sparks when plugged the charger in,the grenn light on the adapter box is on the charger goes out as oon as it is plugged in. Once removing the power cord, it smells as if the inside of the computer is buring.A friend of mine cried when she heard the
buzzing noise of the spark, she is afraid of a fire will happen and burned her house.
Many people may accross this question. First, please do not worry, the charger can not damager your laptop, and couldn’t be a fire hazard, becuase the ac adapter features an intelligent chipset and will blow itself when any unusual over surge being detected, it can bear a temperature of 800℃,so it is still safe to use.
At the same time a small spark is normal. The type of power supply on laptops is a switched-mode power supply. With this type of device there is often an “in-rush current”that appears as a spark when the DC connector of the charger first hits the receptacle contacts (spark usually appears in mid/higher end adapters where a capacitor is used to keep interference down, it is the capacitor that initiates the in-rush current and causes the spark).
Laptop power supplies play a great role in our laptop's overall performance. We should be careful about turning the power switch off if our power cable is not in use. Mr SpareParts Online
